I fell in love with Spain during my study abroad semester in Barcelona in 2009. It was my first travel adventure all by myself, and I’m pretty sure I caught the travel bug here. Since then, I learned Spanish and have traveled to Sevilla and Granada in Andalucia, as well as spent a month road-tripping the north of Spain. I’ve been to Madrid, Costa Brava, and the island of Mallorca, and I have loved every bit of this country.

What To Expect

  • Favorite Places: Sevilla, Mallorca, Asturias, Alhambra, Barcelona
  • Best Time To Visit: September, October, November
  • Language: Spanish, although most people speak English.
  • Capital: Madrid
  • Credit Cards are accepted, but it’s best to have cash (€) on you.
  • Tipping is not expected but welcome. If you get good service, round up the bill.
  • Fun Fact: The Spanish really do adhere to a siesta time after lunch (it’s too hot outside), and they eat late – dinner usually starts at 9 pm.
