Norway

Norway blew my mind! I thought I knew what to expect from pictures, and then I got there and had to pinch myself. This country offers some of the most spectacular hiking experiences in the world, my favorite being Romsdalseggen Ridge in Âlesund, and it is one of the most beautiful places to see the Northern Lights and Aurora Borealis.

Outside of its fjords and mountains, I love Norway’s freshly baked cinnamon buns in the morning, the apple cider they’ve recently been known for, and the fresh salmon belly. The one challenge is the size – this is definitely a country made for a road trip.

What To Expect

  • Favorite Places: Bergen, Romsdalseggen Hike, Trollstigen, Loen
  • Best Time To Visit: July, August (hiking) and around February (Northern Lights)
  • Language: Norwegian, but almost everyone speaks English.
  • Capital: Oslo
  • Cash is not really used in Norway. Credit Cards are accepted everywhere.
  • Packing Tip: Even in the summer, pack a rain coat – it gets chilly & rainy randomly!
  • Fun Fact: Norway has built over 1,000 tunnels, including some of the world’s longest and deepest underwater tunnels – super fun on a road trip!
