Portugal is one of my favorites. For such a small country, it is incredibly diverse – sandy beaches, architecturally beautiful cities, an insane coastline, and a couple of gorgeous islands, Madeira and the Azores, to top it all off.

Lisbon and Porto are by far the most touristed, but there’s more to Portugal than city life. I love the northern Duoro Valley wineries and the southern coastal hiking around the Algarve, the Alentejo wine region, and towns like Cascais, Obidos, and Lagos. My favorite dishes all center around bacalhau (salted cod), olives, and desserts like pasteis de nata and pão de Deus.
