Scotland

Did you know the correct term for a cow in Scotland is “Scottish coo“? How freakin cute is that!

Right when you get off the train in Edinburgh, you’ll notice the giant Castle on top of the cliff in the middle of the city, streets that look a little like Diagon Alley from Harry Potter, and people out and about in the pubs, in shops, and playing music in the street. I also loved heading into the highlands to Glen Coe and Scottish coo spotting. My next adventure to this country will have to be a big Scotland highlands road trip!

What To Expect

  • Favorite Places: Edinburgh, Arthur’s Seat, Glen Coe, Loch Ness
  • Best Time To Visit: July, August, September
  • Language: English (with an undecipherable Scottish accent)
  • Capital: Edinburgh
  • ATMs will accept foreign cards and are widely available in all cities and towns.
  • Credit Cards are accepted, but it’s best to have British Pounds (£) on you.
  • Tipping is not expected but welcome. If you get good service, round up the bill.
  • Packing Tip: Bring a rain jacket; it will almost always rain, even in summer.
  • Fun Fact: The national animal of Scotland is the unicorn. They wanted something that could beat the Lion of England.
